Maritime Law Talks

The Maritime Law Seminar Series was initiated by the Istanbul Bilgi University Maritime Law Research Center on May 25, 2023. The events, conducted in a webinar format, have been recorded. With the consent of our guests, our webinar series has been uploaded to our YouTube channel, and they are as follows: 

[1] The guest of the first Maritime Law Seminar was Dr. Venüs Cömert, a faculty member at Çağ University. Dr. Cömert presented on “Seaworthiness of the Ship” on 25/5/2023. You can watch Dr. Cömert’s presentation at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c44TWKv0FFI. 

[2] The second seminar was held on 26/10/2023 with Dr. Doğuş Taylan Türkel, a faculty member at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law. [3] We held the third seminar on 6/12/2023 with Prof. Dr. Özlem Gürses, a faculty member at King’s College London. The seminar focused on “Comparison of Actual Loss and Pure Economic Loss in Insurance Law.” The seminar is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akHKhDRSXxg. 

[4] The first seminar of 2024 featured Prof. Dr. Samim Ünan, known as the “Professor of Professors,” from Pîrî Reis University Faculty of Law. [5] “The Incorporation of the Hague Rules into Turkish Law on Their 100th Anniversary” was discussed in Maritime Law Seminar V, featuring a unique presentation by Prof. Dr. Kerim Atamer on 14/2/2025. You can watch this seminar at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lh6bdb4zrlQ. 

[6] The sixth seminar in the Maritime Law Seminar Series was held with Associate Prof. Dr. Gülfer Kuyucu Meriç from Özyeğin University Faculty of Law.
